Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, was detained amid a gunfight after authorities said he was a suspect in Saturday's bombings in Manhattan and New Jersey.
What We Know So Far:
- The NYPD released an image Monday of Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, who was wanted in connection with Saturday's explosion in New York City's Chelsea neighborhood that injured 29 people and a bombing in the New Jersey town of Seaside along the route of a charity race for the Marine Corps. No one was injured in that explosion.
- Rahami was shot and arrested after a shootout with police in Linden, NJ, later on Monday morning. He was taken to a hospital in an ambulance. Two officers were were wounded by gunfire, but received non-life threatening injuries.
- "Based on the information we have now, we have every reason to believe this was an act of terror," NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a press conference on Monday afternoon.
- Police said they were not seeking anyone else in connection with the blasts.
- President Obama said, "We are extremely grateful that nobody was killed" and said there's no connection with Saturday's Minnesota mall stabbing.
- Rahami's last known address was in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Police raided a home in the area on Monday.
- Hours before the image was released, law enforcement were called after five suspicious devices were found near a train station in Elizabeth. One device was accidentally detonated by authorities. No one was injured.
- The Chelsea explosion occurred Saturday night on 23rd Street. Officials also found and removed another suspicious device — a pressure cooker rigged up as a likely bomb — four blocks away.
